JULY 28, 1947

Greetings from Littleton, MA

A few weeks ago, I stopped by the Littleton Historical Society to gather more information about 20 Meetinghouse. While I was browsing the postcards folder, I came across a postcard, postmarked 1947. For me, 1947 always rings a bell. It was the year India gained her freedom, and this made it special. Postcards from the past also evoke lovely memories and this one looks like our beautiful Long Lake. Well, it does say, Greetings from Littleton, MA. It was mailed to VT, postmarked, July 27, 1947, and at some point, found its way back to Littleton as an exhibit in the Historical Society. Did you know that Littleton used to be the summer destination of “carloads of people from Boston” in the 20s? I mean the 1920s, not the 2020s.

Here is a link to the article about Long Pond/lake in wicked local.

I recently got back into the habit of sending a postcard when I travel. Do you have a postcard from long ago? Do share!
